Image bank

The original page — "Bildbank" in Swedish — offered press photography for download. The photographs themselves did not survive.

What was here

This page and the press releases beside it offered high-resolution images: interiors of each themed rebuild, the ice harvest on the Torne River, the Mojave desert bar, and a "coolest photos" set the site described as the best press photos ever shot at five below zero. Some were credited to Icehotel and photographed by Big Ben Productions, with the ice artists named individually.

Why the images are not here

The files were served through a binary handler — URLs of the form /MediaBinaryLoader.axd?MediaArchive_FileID=… — rather than as ordinary image files. The Internet Archive captured a handful of those handler responses and none of the originals in a usable form, so there is nothing to rebuild. Requests to those old image URLs are redirected here rather than left to fail.

Where photographs do still exist

Icehotel publishes its own image material, and the Stockholm bar's current operator publishes photography of the room as it is today. Press photographs from 2008–2010 remain the property of Icehotel and their photographers; this archive holds no rights to them and reproduces none.

Where this page comes from

Rebuilt from the Internet Archive's captures of this URL between 2008 and 2011, when absoluticebar.com was the official site of the Absolut Icebar bars. The wording is the archive's own summary of what the page said; quoted material is attributed.

Historical detail on this page describes the bars as they were then. For anything current — hours, prices, whether a bar still exists — go to the operator.
